I love writing poems and would like to see if thy are any good, does anybody know any competitions that are free to enter please?

They’re everywhere. Unfortunately, most are scams trying to sell you anthologies of other beginners.
Go to one of the many poetry sites online like poetry.com, poets.com or (my favorite) authorsden.com where you can post your poems and get feedback from others of all levels of accomplishment.
Good luck with your work. Just be careful of the hucksters.
I entered one to poetry.com and have been notified as a winner, but I have done nothing about it because they want me to buy their book.
I know very little about them. Intrigued just the same… I guess I will see in time.

be careful. there is a site called all that they are interested in is trying to get you to buy a book in which your poem will appear. any old sh1t get’s accepted. the site should be closed down.

Gosh, there are so many - just look around. I don’t know if you were looking for one online or what, but if so, then just Google it or whatever.
I would advise, however, to not enter any. They are all very commercial, and poetry is an art, not a commercial thing!! Poetry is meant to be enjoyed, and so you should just share it with your friends and family.
