Writing Poetry

my friend and i are really into writting poetry and we’d like to publish it, but we’re minors and dont know anyone that could help us, what do you think should we do?

btw do you think if i put up some of my poems here for people to read them and tell me whats wrong, if i ever publish them ill have problems if someone just takes them or something or since i wrote them first i could prove it?
cause id really like opinions from people i dont know, but then again im scared someone might steal em.

We’ve got a poetry competition for anti-bullying week at our school, and our teacher is running it, and wants us all to enter. Apparently it’s about bullying, but on the posters it says do it on the topic Being different, belonging together.

I was thinking of doing someone walking home in the rain, then having memory flashbacks of people being bullied that she’s witnessed. Not drastic bullying, just people being silently picked on. That way I can incorporate imagery and make it not just a poem about bullying taking place right there. I’m going to try and make it seem like the girl is having an epiphany and comes to peace with herself on the walk, and is just thinking lots about everything, and different things pop into her head. Then she starts to wonder about everyone, and if they’re nice or not and if people who are nice and being overly nice and two-faced.

Will this work? I’m ok at writing, I’ve won competitions before, and I reckon if I put my all into it I’ll be a serious competitor in the competition. Does my idea tie in with the bullying and the phrase?

A friend of mine used a website where he posted poetry he wrote and people would review it. Any one have any ideas what are some possible sites?

From what people tell me I am an excellent writer. But I can only write free verse poetry. I want to learn rhyming poetry. Can anyone send me a link to a good guide?

I feel I have great quality in my poetry, and I want to show it to people and maybe attract some publishers…

and free is good.

Anybody who could help, I’d definitely appreciate it!

1.) How do I, a guy, convince people that poetry is perfectly awesome.

2.) What can I use to convince people to join (as in a competition)?

3.) Outside of coordinating entry into competition, what else could we do? Would discussion be that appealing to other people?

I mean is there a notable poetry contest for high school students?

I got an e-mail to enter a poetry competition (have entered a few before now, but with different people - not with the people who sent me the most recent invitation) and to enter you have to send your address and name and stuff (no credit numbers or payments). It’s probably me just being paranoid (just being cautious as I’ve recently been a near victim of scam) or what?

I have some writing, i guess it would be poetry, in a way, where i would like to post it up on a site of some sort, where people Critique them, does anyone know of any good places that i would be able to go to?
