Writing Poetry

I am writing my 6th poem and this is a very long one. But I have been second guessing myself even though others have said my other ones have been very good. How can I keep confident in my work? (I don’t know if it is the pressure to be good that is making me jumpy).

How do you begin writing a poem? Where do you get the subject?

AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN
SECRETS ARE BOUND TO SPILL
AND PAIN IS BOUND TO SPREAD
HURT IS BOUND TO AFFECT EVERYONE
AND HEARTS ARE BOUND TO BE BROKEN

BEFORE THE SUN GOES DOWN
MASKS ARE PUT ON
AND SHEETS ARE WASHED
SECRETS ARE FORMED
PAIN IS HELD AND
HURT CANNOT FORM
HEARTS ARE MENDED WITH THE LOVE OF SIN

LITTLE DO THEY KNOW
THE MASKS ARE SOMETIMES PUT ON BACKWARDS
AND
THE SHEETS ARE BEGINNING TO FADE
SECRETS ARE REVEALED
AND PAIN IS FORMED
TEARS ARE SHED
AND SO IS BLOOD

2 finalists in a poetry competition, are given the word TIMBUCKTU to use in a poem.

1st finalist. SLOWLY ACROSS THE DESERT SAND, TRECKED A LONELY CARAVAN. MEN ON CAMELS 2 BY 2, DESTINATION. TIMBUCKTU.

2nd finalist. ME AND TIM, A HUNTING WENT. MET 3 WHORES IN A POP UP TENT. THEY WAS 3 AND WE WAS 2. SO I BUCKED ONE, AND TIMBUCKTU

I write a lot of poetry, which lately has been going over well with the general public. o.o
I’m 14 and starting to play the guitar, so far I’m getting it pretty well. There’s a BIG musical history in my family. I like to sing and (not really play) but have fun with different instruments.
I keep attempting to smoothly turn a poem into a song but every time I fail miserably. Are there any tips to help me write in a different style?

My 5 year old son had a poem published and I have ordered the book, But I can’t wait any longer and want to read it, can you please help

We’ve got a poetry competition for anti-bullying week at our school, and our teacher is running it, and wants us all to enter. Apparently it’s about bullying, but on the posters it says do it on the topic Being different, belonging together.

I was thinking of doing someone walking home in the rain, then having memory flashbacks of people being bullied that she’s witnessed. Not drastic bullying, just people being silently picked on. That way I can incorporate imagery and make it not just a poem about bullying taking place right there. I’m going to try and make it seem like the girl is having an epiphany and comes to peace with herself on the walk, and is just thinking lots about everything, and different things pop into her head. Then she starts to wonder about everyone, and if they’re nice or not and if people who are nice and being overly nice and two-faced.

Will this work? I’m ok at writing, I’ve won competitions before, and I reckon if I put my all into it I’ll be a serious competitor in the competition. Does my idea tie in with the bullying and the phrase?

I have an autobiographical book written as a poem, written in a beat poetry style structure and substance and I want to know the best way to get it published? Who to submit it to? What format it should be in? Any suggestions whatsoever will be appreciated.

I am a junior and need to start findng funds for my college. i write poetry and idk if i could just find a scholarship where you have to write a poem if anyone can find one that would be great.. thanks
